The Honorable Elijah E. Cummings
January 18, 1951 to October 17, 2019
Elijah Eugene Cummings was an American politician and civil rights advocate who served in the United States House of Representatives for Maryland's 7th congressional district from 1996 until his death in 2019.
When the world thinks of the Honorable Elijah Cummings, we all think CHAMPION. We marveled at his stamina for fighting for justice, his determination to make a difference in the political arena and his perseverance in making sure that we had a strong voice in our community.
Howard County Courageous Conversations (HoCoCoCo) has more intimate memories. When our community wanted to come together to voice our concerns and learn how to bridge our differences, Mr. Cummings did not hesitate to stand with us as we began our journey. He encouraged and supported our efforts every step of the way.
HoCoCoCo would like to proclaim our gratitude to the Honorable Elijah Cummings; not only for his great works in our government, but for his gift to Howard County. We will continue to carry the torch.
Thank you, Congressman Cummings
